Tips

Time of Day.

When people think of the perfect picture outside, most consider sunrise or sunset to the be the best time to capture outside shots. However, I would argue that the “golden hour,” is the best time. This is the hour before sunset or after sunrise. In this hour, the light is not too bright and casts beautiful highlights on the scenery.

Shutter Speed.

Your ISO controls how your sensor responds to light. The lower the ISO number, the lower sensitivity to light, which typically means more clear images. The higher the ISO number, the more sensitivity to light, which also means more noisy images.

Wide Angle Lens.

Some people worry about using a wide-angle lens; however, when photographing scenery that has a lot going on all around you, a wide-angle lens allows you to capture more without missing things on the edges. Wide-angle lenses also allow you to capture more elements in an image, increasing the size of faraway objects for better visibility.
